Three MSJ Art Guild Students Have Their Rain Barrels on Display at the Cincinnati Zoo in April for the Annual Rain Barrel Art Project Auction

Three students in the MSJ Art Guild are participating in the Rain Barrel Art Project sponsored by the Cincinnati Zoo, Save Local Waters, and Indigo Hippo. This project began 13 years ago and was created to promote the use of rain barrels throughout the Ohio River Valley. Rain barrels continue to grow in popularity. However, one of their biggest drawbacks is their dull appearance. So, producing beautiful artistic rain barrels makes them more desirable and promotes their use.

The three Art Guild artists Anna Coleman, Chloe Babcock, and Cate Cole had their designs selected for this worthy project. In January, the rain barrels were delivered, and the artists and their teams began sanding and priming the barrels in preparation for painting. The Art Guild members invested many hours in completing their barrels for the April installation and auction. Other team members include Hunter McNay, Cecilia Rice, Zoie Zobel, and Catie Keefer.

The finished rain barrels are now on display at the Cincinnati Zoo for the month of April, with the online auction taking place during this time. Funds raised from the auction will be used by the sponsors for future educational programming.
