Scooby, the Official Comfort Dog for the School of Education!
Scooby is the family dog of Harrison and Lucie Collier, two faculty members at the Mount within the School of Education. Scooby is a rescue that Harrison and Lucie adopted in 2013. He is a trained Canine Good Citizen and visits the campus a few times a semester to bring joy to all he encounters!
Meet Scooby Collier!
Breed: Mostly terrier (border terrier) some poodle (possibly some other breeds mixed in as well)
Age: 12-year-old rescue
Personality: “Scooby LOVES people! He is friendly, yet approaches slowly and calmly, but is so happy for the attention. He has a knack for finding the student that needs a little extra attention and will often lay down by that student’s backpack or under their chair. I'm not sure how he knows, but it is a common phenomenon with him. He's a quiet, calm yet loving force. He also loves being with other dogs, cats and horses. Generally, he is just a really good companion dog!” (Picture of Scooby above shows him at home tolerating cuddles from the family cat, Velma.) Lucie Collier
“Whenever Lucie brings Scooby to visit, he has an incredible way of instantly brightening everyone’s day. His sweet, friendly demeanor creates a sense of comfort and joy, especially during busy or stressful times. Just spending a few minutes with Scooby brings smiles and a peaceful energy to our students and the School of Education community.” Dr. Laura Saylor, Dean of the School of Education
