Biography:
Darla Vale is a nurse, educator and administrator at Mount St. Joseph University. She received her PhD from Rush University in 1997 with a focus in Women with Heart Disease. Her MSN degree was obtained from the University of Texas Medical Branch and her BSN was earned at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Darla is certified in Critical Care Nursing and until recently, she worked part-time as a staff nurse in the Coronary Care Unit at a local hospital.
Darla has been the primary author of 9 grants totally over $514,000 and authored over 13 publications. Presentations to professional and civic groups are numerous with the primary themes of women with heart disease, the future of nursing and educational issues. Darla serves on the Board for the Greater Cincinnati Nurse Executives and volunteers for Good Samaritan Hospital Free Clinic. She enjoys going on medical missions with her most recent one to Honduras in 2012.
